Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, in proportions which can be varied to achieve varying mechanical, electrical, and chemical properties. It is a substitutional alloy: atoms of the two constituents may replace each other within the same crystal structure.

Brass wire is the perfect material to use when manufacturing electrical components due to the fact that it is corrosion resistant and has conductive properties. These conductive properties come from the copper and zinc composition of brass wire. Because of their durability, these wires are used for electrical connectors.

Trumpets, horns, tubas, euphoniums, and trombones are some of the musical instruments usually made of brass. There are quite a number of them grouped into one family called brass instruments.
